Newsletter-January 2015

Letter from the Director

Happy New Year!

January certainly brought us some interesting weather! I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season and that you are as excited for 2015 as we are!

Enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is officially underway, and I can’t believe how fast the forms are coming in! If you are planning on registering, please make sure to get your form in BEFORE February 1.

Please remember that we will only go out if the playground is safe and it is 32 degrees and above. Please remember to pack your child labeled snow clothes so that we can get the children outside if the weather permits.

The Chili Cook-off is coming, and we will be looking for some contestants to cook for this fun town wide event. Carolyn LaRosa was our big winner last year. If you are interested in a little healthy and fun competition, please contact Johanna Shaw at central.coop.fundraising@gmail.com. We will be looking for a lot of extra hands so please be on the lookout for sign-up sheet. The cook off is part of Chelmsford’s Winterfest so be sure to tell all of your friends and families to come by!

Progress reports will be sent home towards the end of January. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the report.

I will be out of the office Friday, January 16, and Tuesday, January 20. If you need anything, please ask Mrs. LeMasurier as she will be juggling many hats while I am gone.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Central Co-Op Giving Tree a Success

santa_fundThanks you all for the donations to help Nurse Perry’s Santa Fund. We had 53 gift tags, and they were all taken, brought back, and beautifully wrapped!

It warms our hearts to think of all of the children who will have gifts to open Christmas morning because of your compassion.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Letter from the VP of Fundraising

Happy New Year, Co-Op Families!

Thanks so much for your support in 2014, and I’m looking forward to a strong 2015 to get us to our fundraising goal of $7,500! We have two big events coming up in the next couple of months—the Chili Cook-off and the Basket Auction/Concert—so we should be hitting the goal in no time!

Our strong finish to last year was thanks mostly to your shopping and volunteering. We had a strong December with Amazon, raising just short of $100 in that month alone. Your shopping at the Westford Toy Shop brought in $22, and we had $34 from the dining out night at Applebee’s. The Yankee Candle online sales were open through the end of the calendar year, and thanks to at least one last minute order (I fell asleep on the couch on New Year’s Eve and woke up at 11:45, then placed a panicked order literally at the last minute!), our final total from that fundraiser climbed to $2,048.80. Finally, we had our Scholastic Book Fair and sold $892.84 in books, giving us $446.43 in Scholastic credit to spend for the school.

Many thanks go out to those who helped man the Book Fair: Risa DiVincenzo, Kristi Grout, Kristen McDonald, Holly Redding Cooper, Kathy Hannon, Maeghan Hughes, Nilanjan Dasgupta, Katie Gregory, and anyone else who may have lent a hand (this is everyone who was signed up online).

It seems like a lifetime ago that I published the full calendar of fundraisers for the year, so I’d like to give you all a gentle reminder of upcoming important dates.

1/18: Bertucci’s Dining Night
2/7: Chili Cook-off
2/23: The 99 Dining Night
3/18 Papa Gino’s Dining Night
3/28: Stacey Peasley Concert and Basket Raffle
4/3–4/14: Square One Art
4/14: Chili’s Dining Night
5/14: Panera Dining Night

Two of these events will require some volunteers to run smoothly—the Chili Cook-off and the Concert/Basket Raffle. The most immediate need is lining up our chefs for the Chili Cook-off. If you would like to show off your prowess in the kitchen, please email me at central.coop.fundraising@gmail.com. Later this month, we will need volunteers to visit a couple of local businesses each to drop off letters requesting donations for the Basket Raffle. As the event approaches, we will ask for people to help manage the raffle on that day. Watch for Sign-Up Genius forms for both of those opportunities. Please contact me directly if you have something that you would like to donate yourself.

Thanks so much for your continued support,

Johanna Shaw
