Letter from the President of the Board

Dear Parents and Families,

Spring has sprung…finally! Although it has been a tough winter, we are now able to put it behind us and look forward to all the possibilities spring has to offer. It is amazing how far our children have come and, in just a few short months, many of you will actually say goodbye to the Co-Op as your youngest child will graduate. Such a bittersweet time for sure.

I write to you with a sense of nostalgia as well. Although I will continue to be a Co-Op parent as Matthew begins his journey next year, I will be stepping down from my duties as President of the Board of Directors. I have served the Co-Op community for three years as both the Secretary and the President of the Board and have decided that it is time for me to move on; to try different things, to take some time for myself. Many of you have reached out to me to commend the work I have done for the Co-Op, and I very much appreciate that; it truly has been an honor to serve the children, parents, and teachers of the Co-Op. I thank you all for your kind words and support of me and the Board throughout these last years.

I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to also thank you for your volunteerism throughout the years and to encourage those of you who will continue to be enrolled at the Co-Op to stay involved. My experience as a volunteer parent has been extraordinary. I truly believe my children are better students because of my involvement in their education and I, for certain, am a better parent for it.

As I step down from the Board of Directors and as many parents “graduate” from the Board, positions have opened offering new volunteer opportunities for others. Please consider joining the Board of Directors at the Co-Op. It is an experience like no other; an opportunity to have a direct impact on your child’s education; a chance to have a lasting impact on the education of many others to come. Please check out the sidebar for specific information regarding the vacant positions of President, Secretary, Newsletter, and Maintenance. We will be voting in any new members at our next Board meeting to be held on April 30, 2015 at 7 p.m. I look forward to learning of the new candidates, and I invite all of you to join our meeting.

Thank you to all of you for all that you do for the Co-Op and for all of your support.

Happy Spring!
Christina McConnell
President, Board of Directors

Letter from the VP of Fundraising

Hello Co-Op Families,

A huge thank goes out to you do all of you who participated in our Concert and Basket Raffle! Whether you donated raffle items, helped set up or clean, sold raffle tickets, or just came to enjoy the show, you contributed to the event’s success and helped us raise $1,070. Special thanks go to the room parents for coordinating fabulous baskets, Risa DeVincenzo and Jen Beary for helping to set up and fighting a losing battle with the popcorn machine, the Dionne family for helping with random tasks throughout the event, and to everyone who helped clean up. I apologize that I can’t thank the clean up crew by name, but they were so efficient that they were done before I finished handling the people claiming their winnings on the way out.

Square One Art is our last big fundraiser of the year. Your order form with your child’s artwork has been sent home so that you can order from the wide variety of custom printed products they offer. Please return your order forms or place your order online by Tuesday, April 14.

Thanks for your continued support,

Johanna Shaw
VP of Fundraising
