Parent Helper !!
Just a few reminders about being the parent helper:
The parent helper will participate in each part of the school day. She/he reinforces the policies set out by the teacher by being an extra set of eyes, ears and hands. Of course the primary job is to monitor the children and their safety.
Please review the parent helper schedule for your child's class. When it is your turn to be the parent helper, please arrive 5 minutes early to help greet the children; and please bring a 64 oz. bottle of 100% fruit juice.
Parents are encouraged to:
Praise children when they do something well (specific praise is the best i.e. "I really like the purple flowers in your picture")
Talk to the children, help them get involved in play
Ask the children to assist putting toys, books, etc. away when they are finished using them
Allow children to create projects their own way. Do not do the project for them or tell them how it "should" be done
HAVE FUN!!! Don't forget to wear comfortable and washable(!) clothes. Sit on the floor to read a book to a child if asked. Dance up in the music room! Use your own imagination in the creative room! Have fun on the playground or big hall! Release your inner child!!
